What is bad inflammation?
--It is when you are chronically inflamed, and your body does not ever recover fully so your health suffers in one way or another. This is usually the result of having too much Omega-6 fatty acids and not enough Omega-3 in your cells.
Why do I have so high Omega-6 levels but not enough Omega-3?
--Probably because of the food you eat. The standard diet contains very high amounts of Omega-6 but barely any Omega-3 (even many of the common seafoods contain little of it, unless you know they are organic). Most people have an imbalanced Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio--often it is as high as 20:1, meaning that they have 20 times as much Omega-6 as Omega-3 in their cells!
This usually results in bad inflammation.
What are some common symptoms of bad inflammation?
--In no particular order:
- Poor concentration and mood problems
- Low energy levels
- Getting sick often and recovering slowly
- Stomach aches and other gut-related problems
- Dry skin and brittle nails
And these are just a few of the symptoms that come with bad inflammation brought on by imbalanced fatty acid levels (because when your cell membranes don't function correctly it can lead to all manner of health issues.)
How can fish oil help me reduce against inflammation?
--By consuming a high quality fish oil you wlill balance your Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio (providing you with higher Omega-3 levels and lower Omega-6 levels) so that it is around 2:1. This reduces the inflammation and can lead to all sorts of health benefits. The most common health benefits include:
- Higher energy levels
- Better concentration
- Better mood
- Staying healthy (not becoming sick so easily)
How long time does it take usually take to achieve a healthy, balanced ratio between Omega-6 and Omega-3?
--It usually takes about 100 days, given a daily dosage of 10 ml using our ArcticMed Omega-3 Premium.
What is Omega-3 Index?
--It is the total amount of the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA in your blood cells.(The higher the better.) The Omega-3 Index is one of the most accurate measures of cardiovascular health.
Which are the most common Omega-3 products and how do they differ?
--In descending order of quality, the most common Omega-3 supplements sold on the market are:
- Highly concentrated Omega-3.
- Marine Omega-3
- Natural fish oil.
Highly concentrated Omega-3 is fickle, because its nutrition label
may look great, but most of it might become oxidized before your
body can assimilate it.
Marine Omega-3 supplements are manufactured from fish that
take in pollutants like dioxins, PCB‘s and heavy metals.
Natural fish oil gives you a higher safety net against oxidation
and all the extra health benefits from the total Omega-3 complex.
ArcticMed Omega-3 Premium
What type of fish do you use and where does the fish come from?
--we use an Omega-3 oil from wild fish (anchovies, sardines, and mackerels) caught in an area of the Southern Atlantic that has been certified by Friend of the Sea.
What does it mean that you are Certified by Friend of the Sea?
--Friend of the Sea is is a project for the certification and promotion of seafood from sustainable fisheries and sustainable aquaculture. It is the only certification scheme which, with the same logo, certifies both wild and farmed seafood. You can read more at their site if you wish.
Why do you keep your oil in liquid form instead of using capsules like most other companies that sell Omega-3 products?
--The main reason why we have chosen to manufacture the Omega-3 in liquid form because we want to ensure it is of the highest possible quality. This is a bit more expensive on our part, but we believe that you should be able to know if the oil gets rancid! When you‘re using capsules, there‘s no way for you to notice this, unless you take a bite out of every capsule.
What does it cost?
- A single pack costs 335 kr
- A 3-pack costs 800 kr (you save 200 kr!)
- A 6-pack costs 2010 kr
How much oil does each bottle contain and long does a bottle last?
--A bottle contains 300 ml and the average daily dosage is 10 ml, so it lasts about a month.
How should I store my ArcticMed Omega-3 Premium?
--Before opening your bottles, we advise you to store them somewhere dark and cool. After you have opened a bottle and started using it, you should keep it in your refrigerator.
ArcticMed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
What special about your olive oil?
--It contains extremely high amounts of polyphenols (antioxidants) for an Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Several times more than what you would get if you bought a standard one at your local grocery store. It also contains the very potent antioxidant substance Oleocanthal (Google it for health benefits).
Because of the high polyphenol value we require, it is hard for us to find olive farmers which have sufficiently high standards of curation. Because of this, we typically have only a limited amount of bottles for sale at any moment in time (and sometimes they are out of stock).
How much should I consume each day?
--17 ml/day is enough to prevent blood-fat oxidation and reduce inflammation.
How large is a bottle?
--Each bottle contains 500 ml.
What does it cost?
--It costs 245 kr per bottle.
You can purchase it here (if it is currently available).
ArcticMed Blood Test
Why should I do the blood test?
--Because it will give you specific information on your fatty acid levels. This gives you good feedback on your overall quality of health and can give you an indication of what you need to change in your diet and lifestyle (given that your fatty acid levels are poor).
How many fatty acids does the test measure?
--26 different ones.
Could you be a little more specific?
--Yes. By doing the test you will learn the following:
- Your fatty acid profile (your levels of 26 different fatty acids)
- Your Omega-3 Index
- Your Omega-6/Omega-3 Balance
- Your Omega-7 levels
- Your Omega-9 levels
- Your satured fat levels
- Your trans-fatty acid levels
- Your cell membrace flexibility
How do I do the test?
--You will get a test kit delivered to you by mail after purchasing the test. Careful step-by-step instructions are included in the test kit. It is very simple.
How does it work?
--Inside the test kit you will find a little blue tool which is used to prick yourself in the finger. You then take the drop of blood which comes out and put it on a special piece of paper. Then you send it to our lab Omega Metrix, in Germany (you get a ready-to-go letter with the adress on it so all you gotta do is put it in a mail box).
How long time does it take to do the test?
--It usually takes 10 days for you to get your results after the test has been sent to Omega Metrix in Germany.
Does it hurt?
--No, not according to most people who do it. Some have reported that they thought it was fun to do.
What does it cost for me to do the test?
--985 kr. You can order it here.
